Some Amazon Flex drivers love the gig. Others hate it with a passion. Let’s start at the beginning. The Amazon Flex website states that you can delivery packages using your own vehicle on your own schedule. The emphasized statement is a crock of shit. Amazon Flex batches are scheduled to be picked up at exact times. The only flexibility or ability to work on your own schedule is if there happens to be a batch left over at the time you want to work.
Amazon Flex batches pay decent. Most batches are around $55-70 and take an estimated 2.5 – 4 hours. Unless a batch has surged in price because no one wanted it, you’ll hardly ever make more than $25 an hour.
Amazon Flex batches must be picked up at the designated Amazon location. Most of the warehouses are located near major cities. If you live in the boonies, you might have to drive an hour or more to the closest facility. Once you pick up the batch, you head out to deliver.
The uncertainty of Amazon Flex is its lack of transparency. The blocks don’t show you where the packages are going. There’s nothing you can click to show you the number of packages or even the general direction of the route. For example, you might look at a $70 block that’s estimated to take 3 hours. $23 an hour doesn’t sound too bad. Then you pick up the batch and realize the last delivery is two hours away. Ugh!

It’s weird that not once does Amazon Flex mention having to pass a background check but trust us, it is required. We told you Amazon Flex has no transparency!
HOW DO YOU BECOME AN AMAZON FLEX DRIVER?
You can only sign up to become an Amazon Flex driver in their app, which you can download free from the App Store or Google Play.
Once you’ve completed the Amazon Flex application process you’ll probably have to wait for a background check. Since Amazon has no transparency, you’ll have to wait until you sign up to see what the background check entails.
HOW MUCH CAN YOU EARN AS AN AMAZON FLEX DRIVER?
How much you can earn as an Amazon Flex driver depends on your area and how many hours you’re willing to work. In some areas batches are available only twice a day. In other areas they are available 24/7. By catching three normal batches per day, you should be able to earn $200-$250 per day. On average, three batches would take 10-12 hours.
