Can I Deliver For Amazon Flex In A Different Area?
Yes, you can deliver for Amazon Flex in a different area. If you live near another state, you might want to check out blocks in the other state to compare earnings. If you’re traveling or visiting family, you can also deliver in that area but only if Amazon Flex operates there.
To change your delivery area you must contact Amazon Flex Support. It cannot be changed in the app. When you call Support to change your delivery area, the support agent should be able to tell you which other areas are available near you.
Can I Have A Passenger While Delivering?
Technically yes. Amazon Flex does not prohibit you from having passengers in the vehicle. However, you must be the one driving and passengers cannot help you with deliveries. Passengers must remain in the vehicle while you’re loading the packages. On the other hand, the rules appear to be unclear at some of the Amazon pickup locations. We’ve heard of Flex drivers having their blocks cancelled because they had a passenger. Amazon reserves the right to cancel a block if you have passengers and there isn’t enough room for the packages to fit in your vehicle.
Does Amazon Flex Offer Instant Pay?
Yes. Instant Pay is available via the Amazon Flex Debit Card. Earnings are normally available immediately after you complete a block. If any of the deliveries included tips, they will be available 27 hours after you completed the block.
How Do I Sign Up To Become An Amazon Flex Driver?
You can sign up to become an Amazon Flex driver directly in the app. You cannot sign up online. You can download the app from their Download the Amazon Flex App page. You can also download the app directly from Google Play or the App Store.
How Far Will I Have To Deliver?
There’s no way of knowing how far the deliveries will take you. You might get a local route and only drive 20 or 30 miles. Some of the Sub Same-Day blocks may end 70+ miles from the pickup location. Every morning in my neighborhood I see Amazon Flex drivers dropping off packages between 5 and 6 am that they picked up nearly 70 miles away in another state.
How Many Packages Will I Be Delivering?
Amazon Flex offers no transparency when it comes to the number of packages you’ll be picking up, the area to which the packages will be going, or the estimated mileage to complete the block. You might be picking up 20 packages or it could be 80. If one of your stops is an apartment complex, you might have 10 or more packages going to the same complex.
How Much Will I Earn Doing Amazon Flex?
Amazon Flex is right on the money when it states that the average driver earns $18-$25 per hour. Actual earnings will depend on your location, customer tips, how long it takes to complete your deliveries, and other factors. Tips are primarily from Whole Foods and Amazon Fresh deliveries, which are not available in all areas.
Amazon Flex blocks offer a flat rate to complete the block. In our area most are around $70 for a 3 1/2 hour block. That averages $20 per hour. If you finish the block in less than the estimated time then your hourly earnings will increase but the pay for the block will not go up or down.
What Are Rewards Reserved Offers?
Once your Amazon Flex Rewards level is 2 or higher, you’ll have access to preferred scheduling. After you set your preferences in the app, any blocks that meet your criteria will be displayed as Rewards Reserved Offers.
What Are Sub Same-Day Blocks?
If you grab a Sub Same-Day block you’ll be delivering items that customers ordered to be delivered the same-day or next-day. These blocks are usually super early with pickup times around 3 – 4 a.m. The pay is usually decent but the miles are often insanely high. While you might catch a block going locally, some can run 70+ miles from the pickup location. The blocks end early enough that you usually have enough time to also grab a late-morning Amazon.com block. As an example of what blocks pay in the Boston area, a Sub Same-Day block might be worth $110 and a late-morning Amazon.com block might add another $70-$80. If both blocks earn $180 you’d be done in 9 hours or less and earn a minimum of $20 an hour.
What Are The Best Times To Do Amazon Flex?
Amazon Flex isn’t like other gigs where there are busy times and dead times. Amazon always has deliveries waiting to go out. If there is a dead time it would probably be 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. The best times to do Amazon Flex are pretty much 3 a.m. to 10 p.m. It all depends on your area and how often the blocks are scheduled.

What Is A Block?

What Is An Instant Offer?
An Amazon Flex Instant Offer is a delivery offer sent only to you. Instant Offers are batches or deliveries that usually have to be picked up ASAP. You won’t see an Instant Offer unless you’re close enough to the pickup location to arrive on time. To receive instant offers you must toggle the app to “online”. From the map you can change your status from offline to online.
