Types of Delivery Offers For Amazon Flex Drivers

Amazon Flex drivers are eligible to receive two types of offers – Instant Offers and Reserved Offers. To view the available Reserved Offers, just open the app and click the Schedule tab. To receive Instant Offers you must turn on Available Now located on the Offers page. Instant Offers are extremely tricky and include rigid conditions, so be sure to read the information below.

Amazon Flex Reserved Offers

Reserved Offers are what most of us call scheduled blocks. Technically you’re reserving the block for yourself so no one else can snatch it once you confirm the block. Reserved blocks can run anywhere from 2 to 5 hours. The most common length of an Amazon Flex block is 3 1/2 hours. It’s important to note that the scheduled block includes time for you to drive back to the Amazon location where you picked up the packages.

Amazon Flex Instant Offers

Instant Offers are just that. These are on-demand offers that are sent only to you. You’ll receive an in-app notification of an Instant Offer. Sometimes you may receive offers back to back. Declining an Instant Offer is risky. If you decline one in hopes of grabbing a better paying offer, the first offer might’ve been the only one you receive.

Now for the restrictions that are attached to Amazon Flex Instant Offers. On the offer screen you’ll see the time by which you must arrive to pickup the packages. Amazon Flex is not DoorDash or Instacart where you can grab an order while on another delivery. If the arrival time is 2:13 p.m., you must arrive on or before 2:13 p.m.

The most successful way to consistently grab Instant Offers is to park somewhere close to the Amazon pickup location before turning on Instant Offers. The app uses your exact location. Unless the app is glitching, it won’t send you an Instant Offer for another pickup location, especially if you have no chance of arriving on time.

Instant Offers can help fill the day and keep you busy if your main center only has blocks scheduled 2 or 3 times a day. Remember, you’re usually picking up from the same location where all of the Amazon-branded trucks start and end their day. Blocks for Amazon Flex drivers are usually scheduled before and after the starting times for the Amazon trucks and vans. Let’s say your preferred pickup location has scheduled blocks for 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. If you schedule the early block, you’ll have to return to the building by 9 a.m. Once you complete the block, turn on Instant Offers and see what pops up. You might receive an Instant Offer for a block running 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. If the money is right, grab the Instant Offer and immediately schedule a block for 2:45 to 5:45 p.m. You’ll end the day with almost 12 hours on the clock and have delivered three blocks. Depending on demand in your area, three blocks could put $200-$250 in your pocket.

Summary of Amazon Flex Types of Offers

Instant Offers may or may not pay more than scheduled blocks. It depends on your area and the available pool of Amazon Flex drivers. Instant Offers are normally blocks that are overdue for pickup. Many have started to surge in price. You might see a block listed with a base pay of $77.50 but receive the same block as an Instant Offer for $89.00. We’ve seen it happen multiple times. If you just finished delivering a block, the Flex software knows you’re an active driver and are near the pickup location. Flex wants you to deliver another block because no one else has has taken it. Supply and demand! You’re available. Let the software raise the price in hopes that you’ll take it.
