Let’s face it. No one reads anymore. DoorDash is one of the best documented gig platforms but it seems as if Dashers would rather Google the information rather than read the documentation. Most of the FAQs below are not covered by the DoorDash documentation.

Can I Make $500 A Week Doing DoorDash?
In most cases, yes. It’s entirely possible to make $500 a week doing DoorDash. As with all gig jobs, it depends entirely on your area. In most areas you can pull $500 per week just working the lunch and dinner hours. However, if your area is super saturated with Dashers like many areas are, you might also have to work weekends to snag that 500 bucks.
Can I Make $1000 A Week Doing DoorDash?
While it’s entirely possible to make $1000 a week doing DoorDash, earnings will depend on the area in which you work and the number of hours you’re willing to put in. If the area is flooded with Dashers, you might need to find a neighboring town or city that’s more lucrative.
The screenshot below will help you understand what we mean. Only the zone outlined in bright red is kick-ass busy. One of the zones if greyed out, meaning it’s dead or there are too many Dashers logged in. If you’re hoping to maximize your earnings, you’ll need to Dash in one of the busy zones. If you live in the zone that’s greyed out you’d have no choice but to drive to another zone and hope it’s still busy by the time you get there.

Do Customers Track My Location?
Of course they do. Customers can track your location in the DoorDash app. It’s critical to remember this if you truly care about your customer ratings. Even though customers are warned that you’re picking up at other restaurants and delivering other orders before theirs, some will still leave you a shitty rating if they know you delivered the food to other customers before they received theirs.
Do I Get To Keep All Of The DoorDash Delivery Fee?
No. You get to keep exactly ZERO of the DoorDash delivery fee. Delivery fees are normally set by the restaurant or store. DoorDash also adds its own platform fee. You won’t see a penny of those fees. You’re offered a flat fee for completing the delivery. The delivery offer will also shown any expected tips.
How Do I Become a Door Dasher?
To become a Door Dasher you can sign up on their website at Dasher Central. You can also download the DoorDash Dasher app from Google Play or the DoorDash Dasher app from the App Store.
How Do I Dash Now?
Unless you’re a Platinum Level Dasher, you can Dash Now only if the area is light pink or red. If the area is dead, you won’t be able to Dash Now. DoorDash updated its app at the end of 9/25 so the screen no longer shows Dash Now. Now you just hit the big red Dash button and wait for the offers to come in. Dash Now is available if your Rewards Level is Platinum. Only Platinum Dashers can Dash anytime they want, even if the zone is greyed out and totally dead.

How Do I Shop And Deliver DoorDash Orders?
DoorDash Shop and Deliver orders usually have a label stating that you’ll need your Red Card. In some cases you’ll have to go into the restaurant, place the order, and wait for the food to be cooked. Store deliveries are a bit more frustrating. You’ll go into the store and shop for every item in the order. If you’re not familiar with the store, you’ll just have to keep looking until you find every item. Once you’re ready to checkout, the cashier will ring up the order and you’ll pay with the Red Card.
Is There A DoorDash Driver Referral Bonus?
DoorDash usually has driver referral bonuses. It all depends on whether they need more drivers in your area. The referral bonus will be paid only if your referral completes the required number of deliveries within the stated timeframe. The screenshot below shows a typical referral bonus. If your friend completes 290 deliveries within 60 days, you’ll receive $900 and he or she will receive a $600 bonus.

Before you get excited about earning 1000s from driver referrals, remember the obvious. Every driver you refer means one more driver competing for the same deliveries you’re doing. You’re creating competition for yourself. Hardly anyone sends a driver referral offer unless it’s to a close friend or family member.
The cold hard fact is that most drivers never receive the driver referral bonus because the person they referred doesn’t complete the required number of deliveries. The screenshot above is for $900 but only if your referral completes 290 deliveries in 60 days. Without taking a single day off, the person would have to do almost 5 deliveries per day. Most new Dashers quit within the first 3 weeks. Or they discover certain days are dead and don’t work those days. The referral bonus sounds good but DoorDash sets the bar so high you’ll be lucky to receive it.
Is There A DoorDash Sign Up Bonus?
DoorDash does not directly offer a sign up bonus. Their get-started bonuses come from other drivers who refer you to the platform. See the section above on how the Driver Referral Bonus works.
Is There A DoorDash Tracker?
Yes there’s a DoorDash Tracker. In the app customers will be able to see your exact location at all times. They’ll know if you’re at the restaurant picking up their food, on the way to deliver, or stopped somewhere in between to get gas or use the restroom.
What Do I Do With The DoorDash 1099?
The DoorDash 1099 is required when you file your income taxes. As an independent contractor you’re a self-employed business owner. You’ll be required to file a Schedule C with your tax return. The total you earned from DoorDash will be your income. Some Dashers think they can get away without paying taxes on their 1099 earnings. It will take a couple years but the IRS never sleeps. They’ll get caught and end up owing more taxes than if they had filed the Schedule C.
What Is The Best Time To DoorDash?
According to DoorDash Central, the best times to Dash are during the lunch hours of 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner hours from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. These are the hours during which you might be able to Dash even if you don’t have a scheduled Dash.
As seasoned Dashers, most of us Admins can assure you that there are better times to Dash than the standard lunch and dinner hours. The only way to learn the best times to Dash in your area is to try working different hours and shifts. Try mornings from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. Try mid-afternoons between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. I’m an all-or-nothing person. If I’m going to Dash on Monday, I schedule the entire day and work 15 to 16 hours. From what other drivers have told me they’re making, I make more working an entire day than they do working 3 days during the “busy” times.
What Is The DoorDash Red Card?
The DoorDash Red Card is a debit card Dashers use to pay for orders, usually the ones that they shop and deliver. Some stores are not partnered with DoorDash so the orders aren’t prepaid. You’ll have to wait for the cashier to ring everything up, then pay with the Red Card.
Where Can I Get DoorDash Clothes?
DoorDash clothes should be free to all Dashers but they’re not. If you’re wearing apparel that advertises DoorDash delivery, why do you have to pay for it? They should be paying you to wear the clothes! If you’re interested in a DoorDash hat, T-shirt, or sweatshirt, you can buy them from the DoorDash Store. In the DoorDash Store you can also buy extra red bags, window clings, and delivery in progress signs. DoorDash does have a decent selection of delivery bags from the standard red insulated starter bag to huge catering bags. They also sell pizza bags and drink holders.
Which Stores Besides Restaurants Does DoorDash Deliver From?
The stores from which DoorDash delivers vary from area to area. It would make no sense to list every store since many of them wouldn’t be available in your area. In general DoorDash delivers from most local beauty, clothing, convenience, electronics, grocery, hardware, health, party, and pet stores. Deliveries from these stores will be Shop and Deliver. You’ll have to do the shopping then pay with the DoorDash Red Card.
