Roadie drivers are self-employed independent contractors who deliver gigs for Roadie. Driver pay has gone to crap since late 2024 and will most likely not recover. Deliveries that once paid $80 are now being snatched up immediately for under $20. This is the new norm for gig work.
Roadie driver pay offers no predetermined formula. The rates do not include pay per mile or earnings per hour. It is what it is. Roadie offers one amount, and you either accept it or look for another delivery. Most deliveries that require a small or medium sized vehicle average 20 to 60 cents per mile. If you focus on the earnings per mile, you’ll totally overlook the fact that there are no earnings. Anything less than 71 cents per mile leaves you with a net operating loss for that particular delivery.
In preparing this article I grabbed the screenshots below from available Roadie deliveries across the U.S. We’ll break down each delivery to determine which ones are the best offers.
Roadie Driver Pay For Best Buy Delivery

It’s rare to see a single delivery from Best Buy. Their deliveries are usually batched together and often pay 40 to 60 cents per mile or less. This single delivery pays 63 cents per mile. If you’re focused on earnings per hour, at $13.25 if it takes 40 minutes then you’ll be earning $19.88 per hour.
Roadie Driver Pay For CVS Retail Checkout Delivery

If you have a lot of CVS pharmacies in your area, the retail checkout deliveries may be your bread and butter. These are not prescriptions. You pick up the package at the front counter and head out to deliver. These are usually store items like 12-packs of soda, bags of chips, vitamins, etc.
The retail checkout delivery above pays $12.15 and is going 2 miles. That’s over $6 per mile. If you’re focused on earnings and the delivery takes 20 minutes, you’ll be earning $36.45 per hour.
Roadie Driver Pay For Home Depot Delivery
Most small and medium Roadie deliveries pay 20 to 60 cents per mile. The pay doesn’t get anywhere near decent unless the delivery is listed as Large, XL, or Huge. The medium size delivery shown below is going 34 miles and pays $20.06. The estimated delivery time is about an hour, so the most you can expect to make driving 34 miles in an hour is 20 bucks. There’s where you need to know the tax laws. At 71 cents standard mileage deduction allowed by the IRS, if you took this delivery you’d have a net operating loss of$4.08. That’s not including the mileage to drive to Home Depot to pick up the order.

Roadie Driver Pay For Omaha Steaks Delivery
Luckily for Roadie drivers, Omaha Steaks deliveries are not available in most areas. The pay for this delivery is horrible. $23.58 for 42 miles. If you took this delivery, not including the mileage to drive to the pickup location, after taking into consideration the standard IRS deduction of 71 cents per mile you’d have a net operating loss of $6.24.

Roadie Driver Pay For Tractor Supply Delivery
We were glad to find this delivery available so you can see the complexity of Tractor Supply deliveries. The weight of the items is 900 pounds and requires a trailer. Not many guys with a pickup and trailer are willing to drive nearly 50 miles for 94 bucks. Two years ago this delivery would’ve paid $150+.

Roadie Driver Pay For Walmart General Merchandise Delivery
Walmart general merchandise deliveries are hit or miss. Some are only a couple packages. During the holidays, general merchandise batches often include 50+ packages going to 25 different addresses. The delivery below is actually fairly decent. It pays almost $2 per mile or $33 per hour depending on whether you focus on miles or time.
In many areas, Walmart uses its own delivery service Spark for general merchandise deliveries. The only deliveries they put on Roadie are oversized, overweight items such as trampolines, boxed furniture, gas grills, etc. Be sure to check the dimensions and total weight of the items before placing an offer on a Walmart general merchandise delivery.
